An access log is a detailed list of all the files that were accessed by the guests of a certain website. Every file that was requested for whatever reason shall be listed, so if you have one webpage with three embedded graphics, one video and one embedded text file, for instance, the access log shall contain a total of six entries - one for any of the 6 files which were accessed when the site visitor opened the page. A log normally offers the file name and path, the date, in addition to the visitor’s Operating System, Internet browser and IP address. Occasionally you could also find the referrer websites that sent the visitors to your Internet site. The data that an access log file contains is in human-readable plain text format. It can also be processed by special software on a PC and used to write reports on the efficiency of a website, in addition to the web stats that your web hosting server may have created.

Access Log Manager in Shared Website Hosting

Our custom-built Hepsia CP features a section dedicated to various logs and the access logs are among them. When you sign in to your shared website hosting account and navigate to this section, you'll find a list of all the domain names and subdomains that you have. All it takes to permit the generation of access logs is to press a button that will be available next to each domain/subdomain. When the option is enabled, you will see a download link along with the file size so far, so you'll be able to save the file to your computer and examine it or process it with some app. Enabling or disabling the logs takes effect instantaneously, so if you don't need one, you can stop it with only a click from the same exact section of the CP. You'll still have the ability to access the already created content by simply clicking the Download link.

Access Log Manager in Semi-dedicated Servers

When you have a semi-dedicated server account with our company, it will not take more than a couple of clicks to trigger the generation of access logs by our system if you need them. The feature may be permitted from the Hepsia website hosting Control Panel and this could be done individually for each domain name or subdomain that you have in your account. When you log in and check out the Access/Error Logs section of the CP, you'll see a list of all the hostnames with an On/Off button next to all of them. One click will activate the log generation and a second one will disable it, so you can control this feature with great comfort. A Download link inside the same section will permit you to save the created content as a text file, which you may then use on your computer. Even if the logs are disabled, you shall still be able to download the data which has been previously generated.
