Any time you add a domain name as hosted in some account, you usually set a pair of Name Servers to direct it to that specific provider. On their end, 3 records are set up automatically as soon as the Internet domain is added - one A record and two MX records. The first one is a numeric address, or IP address, which “tells” the domain address where its site is, while the other two are alphanumeric and they reveal the server that manages the e-mails for that particular Internet domain. The website and the email hosting are typically considered to be one thing, when they are in reality two different services. Having independent records for them will permit you to have them with different providers if you'd like. For example, some new company could have excellent uptime for your website, but you may not want to switch your e-mail messages from your current host and by employing an A record to point the domain address to the former and MX records to have the emails with the second, you can get the best of both providers. These records are checked when you wish to open a site or send an email - in any case, the service provider whose name servers are used for the domain will be contacted to retrieve the A and MX records and if you've set records different from their own, the correct web/mail server will then be contacted and you'll see the needed website or your e-mail will be delivered.

Custom MX and A Records in Shared Website Hosting

The Hepsia hosting CP, which comes with each and every shared website hosting plan we offer you, allows you to view, change and set up A and MX records for each domain or subdomain inside your account. From the DNS Records section, you'll be able to view a list of all hosts within the account in alphabetical order with their related records, so any update is not going to take you more than a couple of mouse clicks. Creating new records is just as simple if, for instance, you wish to use the e-mail services of another company and they ask you to set up more MX records than the default two. Also you can set the priority for each MX record by setting different latency. To put it differently, when your e-mails are delivered, the sending server will contact the record with the smallest latency first and in case the connection times out, it is going to contact the next one. Using our advanced tool, you will be able to handle the records of your domains and subdomains easily even when you have no prior experience with such matters.

Custom MX and A Records in Semi-dedicated Servers

If you buy a semi-dedicated server plan from us, you will be able to view and update the A and MX records for each of the domain names or subdomains which you host inside the account. The Hepsia Control Panel, which you will get to handle the account, provides an advanced, though easy-to-use tool where all hosts are going to be listed in alphabetical order and you're going to be able to edit their records with no more than a few clicks. If you have to create a new record, it will be just as easy - choose the domain/subdomain, type in the IP address or mail server record and you will be ready. Additionally, you will be able to set different priority for the MX records you create in case that you want to use a third-party email provider and they ask you to create additional records besides the two standard ones. If you ever experience any problems, we have a comprehensive Help section with videos in which you can see first-hand how to setup or edit any record.
